Greetings! I feel bad that I got so frustrated. It is hard when everything says share, share, share and when you listen to TV and they say be careful what you share - and that is your instinct anyway. Some of this was fun. I enjoy picture stuff. I wish what was recommended was easier to use and took less time. I wish my co worker would have had an easier time with pictures as well for she really enjoys them- but many times things wouldn't work for either of us. The library computers are protected from download and she did most of this on her time on library computers. I had it easier than she, but it is hard doing this many times on your own time. Fewer things with more time allotted would have been nicer for us backwards non computer people. I was ok with most. Hope everyone else had more fun. Happy New Year, Happy Spring, Happy Day! Super S

This tells you how much I use things - I already belonged. I think Arrowhead told us to join, that it was a good thing. Asked Linda NCLC to be my friend, and, I am sorry Linda, but I shall probably never go there again unless someone can really tell me that there is something there I WANT. Again at home I have no internet and coming to the library to do this stuff is not fun - especially on my own time. Did everything you told me to do. Looked at metronetmili and saw 23 things as a link there. None of this stuff has helped my productivity but has helped make my library homepage a LITTLE more interesting. Anyway after protesting I thought I better at least look so I did. Went to Hulu and saw widgets and RSS but wasn't interested. Went to Joost but more boring. No interest what so ever and do I really have to do this??? Whine whine whine. I would never save something for viewing later (rather read a book again) and I saw nothing to recommend to my friend who basically agrees with me. I asked her over the counter.

Found lots of pix but couldnt figure out how to use these free pix - and I spent some time cause my friend has no pix cause she doesn't take them. Anyway gave that up and just used pix. Checked out booktagger, found it boring. Daily Lit is ok. Book Calendar is now on my homepage. Bookmarked interesting. LitLovers I need more time. Reading Group Choices I need more time interesting. Wired for books I liked. Book Videos.tv is on my homepage. Tried Podio books which is not the kind of books I liked. Sent a book out on book crossing. Complete review didn't have authors I liked. Love storyline and sillybooks which I bookmarked for now. Facebook boors me. Sooo. I think the tools are mixed and everyone will find something different they will like. That is why there are so many choices. We offer a book club online that people like, offers many choices and also pulls the library into the club by offering only a few chapters of each book.

Online answer sites are easy if you're online. You don't have to go anywhere, do anything, or thing. Lots of how dos, do you knows,etc. Nothing interesting that I saw. Sometimes we answer questions like this, the older stuff, easily. We see that we go online after check library sources. I think people use these sites because they are too lazy to go anywhere or think for themselves (oooo - me bad). I thought Slam the Boards boring because it was slow, I didn't participate because I wasn't interested and it took more time than I have. I did not answer any questions because I did not have time to research any answer to make sure answer would be correct. SuperS

Have travel stuff on my yahoo home page. etc. etc. my travel diaries are MINE. etc. etc. and who cares about eating fast food and doing the same old thing when you travel. Why travel? I did look at tube map ... memories. My favorite site isn't here & I can't remember what it is called. I'll have to call my sister. Best thing about travel sites are the pictures. I mean you can explore museums, the capes, castles, rivers, cities and towns, you can look at hotels you think you might stay in, you can get maps of where your going (although if you try to find Buhl they will tell you that your in Chisholm), and on and on. It is fun to explore the world. It whets the appetite! SuperS

Typed in 400 Jones Ave, Buhl Minnesota in search maps. It came up 400 Jones Ave, Chisholm MN 55719 At this Address: Buhl Public Library. On the map it said 400 Jones Ave, Chisholm MN. So map is wrong. Cant do it! We used to be in Cook Minnesota. Now we are in Chisholm. They must buy their information from where Polk City Directories started buying there info. So anyway if you want me to do a map you need to get the maps corrected. I'm tooooooo frustrated with them not allowing us to be in BUHL!!!! SuperS

Twitter is not for me. I do not have time nor inclination. I know, I know, I keep saying this but that is who I am. I am at the library on Sunday afternoon so that I can get things done and I just spent an hour looking at this thing. My twitter page says nothing about me because I do not want it to. Its no ones business. I am using twitter only once because you said I had to. I have no time to go back and look again at it. My twitter stage is deep dark and very very black. Twitter is great for people who like to tell everyone what they are doing and enjoy going out with groups of friends to visit. I like to stay home and read and and and. There you go.

Greetings everyone! I have just gone through reading 30. I even went back and looked up my account for delicous etc. And then I thought - why should I bother. I won't look at it again, too many codes and not enough interest. I use RSS alot. Yahoo home pages make it very easy. OK - - so this is what I feel about this thing in all its glory. If it isn't ok so be it! I went everywhere and looked or not. To begin:
Used Yahoo Alerts because that is where I go anyway. My homepage is there, I have an email there, why go elsewhere. I put a weather alert into my email because I am a weather junkie.
Google News - I already get several other news feeds in email and yahoo. Why more?
Search Wiki - Again - the fun of leaving it open ended is finding things you are not looking for. This is, seems to me, another way of closing your mind.
Web History - If you set things up the right way you are bookmarking what you are interested in anyway. I don't use google that much and the history would be patron oriented, so redundant to me.
GMail - I already have three email accounts - one for work, one for me, and one for family. I refuse to get another. I don't keep up with what I have.
Calendar - I have calendar on my blog and on my homepage already that I never look at. Why have another one.
Sites - I did this with Yahoo as much as I was willing to share.
Goog-411 - I made a note of this. I will use it if I ever need to. Maybe.
So there you are ... I guess you could say there was not much interest on my part.

Well I did learn many things about web2.0 and etc.
I will continue to do much of what I have learned because I have begun to use some of it, the easy stuff, on the library blogs and I really want to make the library interesting and FUN! I will not promise to check this blog everyday, but I will TRY to keep blogging when I find something new. Since my aggregator is part of google and so is blogger I shall probably be checking it every so often or move it over to the library account. Well - I set up two social networking accounts. In facebook I managed to sign up two 'friends', joined a very local small local group, and wrote on its wall some gibberish. I also joined myspace. This was easier to use in many ways. Easier to find out who is on it that you already communicate with and easier to get in and out. I loved the Denver Public Library My Space Page - Cool Kitty Kitty - fun to explore. As usual I print everything that interests me so I can read it at home and use it later if I have time. Maybe sometime I will use myspace or facebook - who knows..........

My You Tube is there under Thing 18? you just can't see it. I enjoyed looking at videos - too much so. I posted to my blog the machine is using us cause I like it soooo much. Looked at many of suggestions and thought most were dumb. Lick Library tours like the one for WSU and the LC one called trip to the library. Liked the Swedish one and sent it to family. One really has to be careful about how creative you are for I can see, looking at the library tours, how easy it is to be boorrrring or allow yourself to get really weird! It would be fun to try to figure out how to do a video without a camera or any other tech stuff - i.e. some of the online picture stuff we did earlier. Maybe I will get the TIME! Thanks. SuperS

I am here again today! I find that I already have a My Yahoo page. It comes every time I sign in to my Yahoo account. Several things interest me but I don't HAVE TIME!! I bookmarked zamzar mostly because I could have used it earlier this week, maybe use it again when I receive something weird. I really like the look of backpack so bookmarked it for later. I use a paper desk calendar and don't have a computer free to use a computer one so redundant. I do not list - have to find list to use it, have to spend time keeping it up, have to be organized. I have seen tinyURL around, especially in email from Arrowhead Library System. Finally I bookmarked lifehackers guide to free software - I know, I'm suppose to bookmark on delicious, but I would never find anything if I did that. I want to use what I know how to do. Greetings Thing People! I have just read Thing 12 and did that which I could do without joining anything - although I am going to suggest newsvine to someone I know who is a news junkie. I read an article on Africa - Tanzania and how they are working at setting up a social service to help the extremely poor. I then entered the article into delicious and tried to dream up tags at which I am very very poor. I also emailed the article to a very good friend who will be very interested in the article having been in the Peace Corps in Tanzania. I do not think I shall use this thing NOW. Greetings to Whoever Reads These Things! Thing 11 has finally been gone through and some work DONE! I added some tags to my Buhl Public Library Skylight Pictures for one thing. This was very easy, and I do not know if what I did will help the pictures show up or not. I have tagged some pictures in my flickr account and if I am not in my account I cannot find them, soooo. What am I doing wrong. The Pictures and public. Delicious is easy and fun. I do not like sharing too much but I put in the page of the person whose video I watched (LibraryBytes). That is an interesting page. Then I checked my bookmarks and added the weather page I use. And finally I added the pix n things blog from the library homepage. My tags are probably really bad, for I have no immagination for labeling. I then looked at the library list that said these libraries used tags. I noticed them for one library. The rest I got caught up in looking at their homepages, their designs et al. Interesting but time again limits use. Maybe when I have nothing else to do. SuperS

Alright, thing 7, my nemesis. I do not really like e-mail. Tooooo much comes...toooo little time. I already use all the stuff but address book on my work email. I have two other emails that I use for personal notes. I have a brother-in-law that loves email. Email could take up way too much time so I ignore most of it, and delete a lot of the rest of it. I don't write letters either.
Instant messaging is interesting. I set up an account and put in addresses and opened it once again but never checked. It let me know when I had an email message which was OK, but nothing important when I finally got around to checking it. I think if I had internet at home I might be more into this, but... The movie was really good and if I was more knowledgeable and had more time and patience I would probably try something. I do feel it is important. I do know that people use IM, in fact I have a friend that said GOOD when I asked her if I could add her address, but again I am not online at home.
Text messaging. Again a problem for the library. You need a cell phone. I own one for emergency use when I am in my car. I do not use it. I need a class on SMS. I have heard of a possibility of one in town .... have it at the library????!!!!!!!!
Web Conferencing. There is nothing happening NOW in OPAL or MINITEX. I have been to a few at ALS and from this computer. There are two being offered this week according to email. Time is an issue.
I guess Thing 7 is a place where I have some knowledge and not enough time to learn more. In many ways I would like to know more about IM and text messaging but time and availability of tools are very limiting. I did learn something though and I did keep my IM account. On to Thing 8. PS. I am feeling blue.

This is taking me time because I am trying to understand jargon I do not know and am not good at remembering. Soooo ... my perception of what is said might be unsatisfactory.
Several of the sources that we were to read were to try to help us understand why L2 is important. It is seen by the articles and presenters that the Web is a tool to bring people together in many ways and that libraries can and should be a part of that tool. It is felt that the Web can create relevant relationships and conversations and that libraries should be able to find it easier to harness library users however they may see the library in planning where the library will be relevant in the future, probably a difficult change in the way planning is now done by many.
The web can make it easier to find information that is wanted. Libraries are good at knowing how to find and organize information and we should adapt ideas others have to make what we are good at doing better. We need to reach beyond the 'library building' to share information, to expand and enrich the library experience.

I have made my blog - I already have two others for my library but I had never made an avatar. I really did not like doing so but thats ok, I did it anyway. We begin. Supers
